Music Lesson Tuition and Policies

Getting started in music lessons is simple at Baltimore School of Music. We are not a typical music school - we teach lessons year-round so students have the flexibility of starting and ending anytime during our school year.

To make music lessons convenient, Baltimore School of Music offers open enrollment so students can begin and end at any time during our school year. Submit our website form, send us an email, or contact us by phone at 443-687-7000 to get started. Our Program Coordinator will work with you to find a teacher and a lesson time that works for you.

Trial lessons allow students to experience different instruments and teachers to make sure you find the perfect fit. Trial lessons are individually scheduled and paid for without having to make any further commitment. Students are welcome to take 2 trial lessons with each teacher before being required to register for a time slot.

Students who do not already own an instrument are welcome to use one of our trial instruments for their first few lessons. Contact BSM for trial instrument availability.

Registration secures the same day and time for your lesson each week with your teacher and enrolls you in automatic monthly billing. Tuition is billed on the 1st of each month at a flat rate, regardless of how many lessons occur. We make billing simple by including holidays and scheduled breaks in our price.

Student Absences

We understand that students might need to miss a lesson during the year, so we allow students to reschedule up to 2 lessons as long as 24-hour absence notification is given. Cancellations with less than 24-hour notice, or by any student who has already rescheduled 2 lessons, are not eligible to be rescheduled.

Students can log into their Student Account to cancel any upcoming lesson to let us know.

Students may withdraw from lessons by submitting the online withdrawal form to the school. If the withdrawal is submitted by the 15th day of the current month, the student will be unenrolled at the end of the current month and will not be charged the next month's tuition. Students who submit withdrawals after the 15th day of the current month will continue to be enrolled in lessons and charged the full tuition amount through the following month, regardless of whether they attend those lessons or not.

Our school year continues throughout the summer, but we know it’s a common time to travel and have fun, so don’t worry! We allow students to fill out a summer schedule for July and August to prorate tuition during those months for the lessons you'll attend.

We invite all our students to participate in our student recitals. Held twice per year, recitals give students the chance to show off their hard work in front of family and friends. Our low-pressure environment allows students to feel confident and have fun performing.
